Platinum carbon (Pt / C) catalyst for fuel cell

Time:2022-01-08

Platinum Carbon Belong among the noble metal catalysts, with a black powder appearance. Its molecular weight is 195.08, the molecular formula is Pt/C. The main components are precious metal platinum and conductive carbon black, which are prepared by a series of chemical reactions and physical processes by loading platinum onto conductive carbon. It is mainly used in chemical reactions such as hydrogen oxidation, methanol oxidation, formic acid oxidation, and oxygen reduction in fuel cells. Unlike conventional chemical platinum carbon catalysts (containing less than 5% platinum) hydrogen fuel cells usually contain more than 50% platinum, and platinum nanoparticles have a narrow particle size of 2 to 5 mm, and are evenly dispersed, and contain no harmful impurities.

A fuel cell is a chemical device that converts the chemical energy of a fuel directly into electrical energy. It is the fourth power generation technology after hydroelectric, thermal and nuclear power generation. It is efficient because it is not restricted by the Carnot cycle effect, and it uses fuel and oxygen as raw materials, so it emits very little harmful gas and has a long life. "Fuel cells are composed of four main components, namely, anode, cathode, electrolyte, and external circuitry." Fuel gas and oxidizing gas are fed through the anode and cathode of the fuel cell, respectively. Fuel gas emits electrons through the action of the anode catalyst. Electrons are transferred to the cathode via an external circuit and combined with oxidizing gas to form ions. Ions form a circuit through electrical action to generate current.
